大阪教育大学・茨城大学大学院等で学び、作曲を松永通温・松尾祐孝・早川和子の各氏に、民族音楽学を馬淵卯三郎・伊東信宏の各氏に師事。後者の学習に関わる調査や楽器演奏を通して、雅楽・地歌・民謡等日本の各種の伝統音楽に深く触れる。1999年第16回現音作曲新人賞入選。2002年8th International Young Composers’ Meeting（オランダ）に選出され参加。東南アジアの現代音楽に関する調査を、2002年にフィリピンとインドネシアで（日本財団APIフェローシップ助成）、2010年にタイで（Asian Scholarship Foundation Asia Fellow Awards助成）行う。日本の伝統音楽に関心があり、その構造や旋法の応用や、邦楽器への作曲等様々な手法を試みている。近年は音楽を通じての社会問題への関わりにも関心を持ち、戦争の記憶や移民に関する作品も発表している。レクチャーやコンサートでの作品演奏を通じての、東南アジアの作曲家の日本への紹介も行なっている。音楽の専門家ではない人々との音楽作りワークショップにも関心を持ち、2020年には、シンガポールとフィリピンの作曲家・アーティスト・キュレーターらと、図形楽譜を用いたオンライン音楽作りワークショップを行うプロジェクト、Music for Caring（国際交流基金マニラ事務所助成）を行なった。
BIOGRAPHY
He studied composition with Prof. Michiharu Matsunaga, Masataka Matsuo, Kazoko Hayakawa, and ethnomusicology (mainly about Japanese much) with Dr. Usaburo Mabuchi, Nobuhiro Ito at Osaka Kyoiku University, Graduate School of Ibaraki University, etc. In 1999, He became the finalist of the 16th JSCM Award for Composers. In 2002, he was selected for the 8th International Young Composers’ Meeting (The Netherlands) . He conducted researches on the Southeast Asian contemporary music in the Philippines and Indonesia (2002 : with the Nippon Foundation API fellowship), and in Thailand (2010: with the Asian Scholarship Foundation Asia Fellow Awards). With strong interest in Japanese music, he has tried various compositional ways to utilize its characteristics. Recently, with increasing interest in various social issues, he composed some pieces related to wartime memories, the migration, etc. He has also tried to introduce the works of Southeast Asian composers through organizing the lectures and concerts including their works.With his interest in music making workshops with non-musicians, in 2020, together with a composer, an artist, and a curator in Singapore and the Philippines, he conducted the “Music for Caring” project in which some online music making workshops using graphic scores were held (founded by the Japan Foundation Manila).
