1962年 徳島県出身。大阪音楽大学ピアノ科卒業後、10年間アメリカに留学し、1993年ボストン音楽院作曲科を卒業。首席賞、最優秀賞、ロジャー・セショーンズ作曲賞を受賞し、全米音楽家協会に推薦登録される。その後、コロンビア大学芸術科学大学院音楽部にて修士課程および博士課程全修了(MA 1996, DMA 2000）。ラパポート作曲賞、アンドリュー・メロン・フェローシップ等を獲得し、TA講師を務める。松下功、ジョナサン・クレイマー、ブラッド・ガートン、トリスタン・ミュライユ他の各氏に師事。1997年フランス・フォンテーヌブロー・アメリカ音楽院において、ベッツィー・ジョラス、フィリップ・ルルーに師事した。日本、韓国、中国の伝統楽器を使った作品、室内楽、オーケストラ、電子音響音楽、Maxによるライブ・エレクトロニクス、ビデオ作品、インスタレーションなど、幅広い手法で作品創作を続ける。作品はISCM国際現代音楽連盟「世界音楽の日々」、ICMC国際コンピュータ音楽会議、ACLアジア作曲家連盟「アジア音楽週間」などに入選、アンサンブル・モデルン等によって演奏されている。ICMPC国際音楽知覚認知学会やEMS国際電子音響音楽学会等において口頭研究発表の他、パネリスト、セッションチェア、論文査読委員等を務める。2001年NPO Glovillを創立し、理事・音楽監督として社会貢献活動を続けている。
BIOGRAPHY
Born in Tokushima, Japan, in 1962. After graduating from Osaka College of Music as a piano major, Yuriko Hase Kojima pursued her career as a composer in America for ten years to obtain B. M (1993) from the Boston Conservatory, and M.A. (1996) and D.M.A. (2000) from Columbia University, where she was awarded the Andrew Mellon fellowships and Rapaport Composition Prize. Her former teachers include Tristan Murail, Jonathan Kramer, Brad Garton and Isao Matsushita. She also studied with Betsy Jolas and Philippe Leroux at the American Academy in Fontainebleau, France. Her music expands from contemporary European Classical music idiom to Asian music tradition, combining styles, techniques and computer music technologies. Her works have been presented at various international festivals and concerts, including the ISCM’s World Music Days (2000 Luxembourg, 2017 Vancouver), the ACL’s Asian Music Week (2000 Yokohama), and the ICMA’s International Computer Music Conference (1997 Thessaloniki, 2005 Barcelona, 2006 New Orleans, 2007 Copenhagen, 2018 Daegu, 2019 New York), NYCEMF (2018, 2019) among others. Her works have been performed by Ensemble Modern, the Pearls Before Swine Experience, Azure Ensemble, New York New Music Ensemble, and Voyager Ensemble, to name a few. She appeared as a panelist at a monumental symposium called “Unsung Stories” hosted by Columbia University in 2021. The founder and the music director of Glovill, a non-profit organization established to introduce new music to Japan.
