BIOGRAPHY
I was born in 1949 in Nagano Prefecture. I graduated from Nihon University College of Art, Department of Music. I studied composition and harmony under the late Kiyohiko Kijima. I often exhibited my works in the composer group “Seijusha”, “Japan Society for Contemporary Music”, “Japan International League of Artists”, and other music exhibitions. Sheet music and CD of my representative work, Song cycle “Natsu-no-Dabi” based on 7 Haiku, published and released. I am also the author of “Solfege Series I, II, III, and IV” (co-authored).
There are relatively many methods in my works that incorporate the characteristic elements (materials) of traditional Japanese music, especially Gagaku. I am impressed by the deep taste Western music does not have in the delicate modification technique applied to be intertwined with the simple main melody.
I have been teaching younger students at Nihon University College of Art for many years, but I retired in 2020. I am a member of Japan Society for Contemporary Music.
